Dad’s Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

  • Makes: Makes 1 1/2-2 dozen cookies.


1/4 cup butter, softened

1/4 cup canola oil

1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

a good shake of cinnamon

1 large egg

1 tsp. vanilla

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup raisins or other dried fruit


1Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl beat the butter, oil, brown sugar and cinnamon until creamy; beat in the egg ad vanilla.

2Add the flour, oats, baking soda and salt and stir until almost combined; add the raisins or other dried fruit and stir just until blended. Drop large blobs on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, until set around the edges but still soft in the middle.
