Pascal’s Mom’s Tourtière

From Pascal Desjardins' Mom in Quebec.


1 small onion, diced

2 celery sticks, diced

1 1/2 lbs ground pork or beef

2 garlic cloves

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground cloves


salt and pepper to taste

crust for a double crust pie

1 egg, beaten


1In a skillet, sauté the onion and celery in a small amount of oil until soft. Add the meat and the rest of the ingredients, add a half cup of water and simmer for 1/2 hour.

2Place in a partly cooked pie crust, brush top of crust with egg and bake at 350F for 45 minutes.
